Each week, the Book Blogger Hop, hosted by Crazy for Books asks a different book-related question for book bloggers to answer. This week, the question is
What is the LONGEST book you've ever read? (Not including spiritual works)
Since I write an audiobook blog, I've changed the question slightly to
What is the LONGEST book you've listened to?
I'm not going to include The Count of Monte Cristo, since I had read part of it on my smartphone and listened to other chapters. The longest book I've listened to only is A Woman in White by Wilkie Collins. The audiobook is great; it's well-performed, it changes up narrators with changes in points of view, and has an exciting, easy to follow plot. Even so, I found myself having to push through parts and counting down the hours to the end. Listening to a very long book can become difficult, but it's a nice way to get a start on a large, imposing book on your to-read list.
What's your experience with long books? Do you prefer to read, listen or a bit of both?

If it is REALLY long, I try to trudge through it but one time I listened to the beginning and then finished reading the book.

I'm not sure about ones I've listened to but the longest book I've recorded (this was for LibriVox) was over 22 hours when I finished. It was The Golden Bowl by Henry James. I considered it a labor of love. :)

With long books, I just trudge along with reading it. It usually takes me quite a while but I'm also reading other things too.
My Book Blogger Hop
Just finished the Audio version of The Woman in White last month and enjoyed it! I agree that it bogged down a little...
I don't know what I'd do without audio books! Have a great weekend.
I have never combined reading and listening for the same book, I do one or the other.
I tried reading A Woman in White and I ended up only finishing about half of it. It wasn't my cup of tea.
The longest books I've read is are classics. Please come see which ones I'm talking about.
I first discovered audiobooks as a way to "read" all those classics I always knew I should read but never got around to. And so I've listened to War and Peace (60 hours), Les Miserables (57 hours), The Brothers Karamazov (35 hours) etc.
I tried audiobooks, but my mind drifts and then I've missed part of the book! I rather read.
